My Skincare Routine & Favorites (+ a DIY Face Wash Recipe!)

Everyone has a skincare routine that works for them, but what happens when the weather changes (hello, fall!) and suddenly, our skin, hair, and nails all freak out? For me, that's when it's time to change up my routine. Here are my top 5 skincare items in my daily routine!

1. Pixi Collagen & Retinol Serum, $24.00, Target and target.com.

This serum smooths and soothes my skin after a long work day. I use this after I wash my face. It may seem a bit pricey, but you only use a few drops every day. I bought this two months ago and there's still a ton in there!

2. Equate Moisturizing Lotion, $6.47, Walmart and walmart.com.

During the summer I love to use coconut oil on my face, but when the weather changes my skin actually gets too greasy using it. So I make the switch to the Walmart version of Cetaphil lotion. It's the same formula but less expensive (my wallet thanks me every time), and it makes my face and skin soft and smooth. I use it both morning and night, and I use more at night so the moisturizer has more time to sink in. It's also a huge bottle so it lasts a really long time!

3. Mliani Rose Serum, $11.97, Walmart and walmart.com (you can also find it at Target).

I've been using this serum since last summer, and I love how it brightens and tones my face! Just a few drops after your morning moisturizer and you're ready to go!

4. Eco Brush Start The Day Beautifully Bamboo Brush Set, $9.98, Walmart and walmart.com.

I've been wanting to switch out my old makeup brushes with something more economical and good for my face, so last month I finally made the switch to EcoTools Bamboo Brushes. They are so soft! I also love how, ever since I cut down on the amount of makeup I have (I now only own 6 pieces of makeup) I was able to cut down on the number of brushes. Plus, who really ever uses all of the brushes in a set?

5. DIY Face Wash (with recipe)

This recipe is adapted from one I found on Pinterest. It's awesome, plain and simple!

DIY Face Wash

IMG_3366

1 Cup Castille Soap, such as Dr. Bronner's or Equate Lavender Castille Soap (or preferred scent)

1 Cup Distilled Water (I buy the gallon and save the rest for the next batch)

10-15 drops Lemon or Lemongrass Essential Oil

20 Drops Lavender Essential Oil

Glass Soap Dispenser with a Foam Pump (I found mine for $4 at Ross Dress for Less)

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix.

Pour into soap dispenser. If you have extra, pour into a jar and store in a cool, dark place until you need a refill.

Use 2x per day!

Play around with different oils and soap scents & tell me your favorites!
